Careers
Dual pathways in research and engineering
The University hosts 3 national key laboratories and participates in 13 national-level science and technology innovation platforms, giving research-oriented students opportunities to join major platforms, projects and teams. As one of the first national pilot institutions for engineering master's and doctoral education reform and the first university in the energy field to establish a National College of Excellent Engineers, it embeds graduate students in enterprise joint-training, with graduates moving primarily into research institutes, technology centers and frontline major engineering projects of leading energy enterprises.
Emerging fields and internationalization
The University is advancing rapidly in unconventional resources, deep water, deep earth and clean energy, as well as intelligent oil and gas, hydrogen energy, energy storage and CCUS, enabling graduate students to take the initiative in fields of urgent national need. With China's first overseas College of Excellent Engineers, multiple Sino-foreign joint institutions, and its role as chair institution of the university (youth) working group of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership cooperation network, the University offers international joint research and overseas engineering practice, preparing graduates for multinational energy companies and overseas engineering roles.
